Monday, July 23, 2018

Havana.- Social expenditures are a priority in the operations of the Cuban budget, taking into account the sums allocated in 2017.

Finance and Price authorities pointed out that the health, social assistance and education sectors received 51 percent of the total amount allocated to the social sphere.

In this way, public health and social assistance received more than 10.7 billion pesos to cover, among other activities, 251 million medical and dental consultations.

Regarding education, 8,178 billion pesos were allotted, a sum that allowed for the continuity of studies of 1.74 million students, in more than 10,000 schools.

In addition, 50 higher education institutions operated last year among universities, institutes, centers and branch schools, with a total enrollment of 225,000 students.
