Cuban Athletes Win 27 Medals in Central American Games
Monday, August 6, 2018

Havana.- Cuban athletes won 27 medals, including ten titles, in the Central American and Caribbean Games held in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Cuba also won eight silver medals (one of them in the women's marathon) and nine bronze medals, fewer than the 23 gold medals won in Veracruz-2014.

Among the most outstanding athletes was Rose Mary Almanza, winner of three titles in the 800- and 1,500-meter races, in addition to the 4X400 relay, in which the Cuban team clocked 3:29.48 minutes.

In the men's triple jump, Cuba won gold and silver medals that went to Cristian Nápoles and Jordán Díaz, respectively, while Lázaro Borges won the title in the pole vault.

Cuba also won gold medals in the women's pole vault thanks to Yarisley Silva, as well as one title and one silver medal in the women's discus throw.
