Cienfuegos to Supply Lime to Cuban Sugar Industry |

Havana.- Cienfuegos will supply large volumes of lime to the sugar industry in at least six Cuban provinces.
The plant, located in that central territory, is expected to deliver some 55 tons of lime a day to meet the demands from the provinces of Mayabeque, Artemisa, Matanzas, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Camagüey and Ciego de Avila.
This lime factory has the highest production capacity in the country and has the largest reserves of that raw material in its two deposits, located a few kilometers away from the plant.
The plant processes the raw material in advance to store it for the next sugar harvest.
Lime hydrate is used to stabilize the pH of cane juice, hence lime production begins long before the activation of sugar factories.
