Bird Watching in Eastern Cuba
Monday, August 20, 2018

Havana.- The eastern province of Holguin is near Caletones beach, a unique space to watch migratory birds from the American continent.

According to experts, from August to November, about 200 species of birds, including thrushes, royal bluebirds and cardinals, join the endemic varieties.

Among the latter are long-tailed hawks, mockingbirds and Cuban trogons, among others.

Animal specimens find an ideal place to escape from the cold winter conditions in the continent and their protection is a fundamental priority.

The migratory corridor also allows contact with nature and the study of the customs of birds, essential in the balance of biological diversity.
