Hotel Infrastructure Gains Ground in Latin America

London.- Reports from the specialized agency STR say that the hotel infrastructure in Central and South America has grown.

According to the institution, 153 hotels in the region were under construction in July, representing 23,610 rooms altogether.

In addition, 82 establishments were in the final planning phase (12,611 rooms) and 165 hotels were in the preparation stage, totaling 23,818 rooms.

Of that total, 58 percent is located in Brazil and Colombia, countries that collectively have 13,769 rooms.

Meanwhile, in the Caribbean and Mexico, the hotels under construction are 109, totaling 23,868 rooms, of which the Dominican Republic has 4,447 rooms) and Cuba has 2,240.
