Cuban Sport Present at Youth Olympic Event
Monday, September 10, 2018

Havana.- Cuba will participate with 19 athletes in the 3rd edition of the Youth Olympic Games, to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to specialists, Cuba's greatest options for medals are in athletics, wrestling and judo.

In that regard, the presence of Jordan Diaz (triple jump), world record holder in the U-18 category with a 17.41-meter jump and world champion in that class in Nairobi-2017, stands out.

Other delegation members are Melany de la Caridad Matheus (discus) and Lester Alcides Lescay (long jump), first in the IAAF ranking with 8.07 meters.

In the first edition in Singapore-2010, Cuba finished in the fifth place in the table of medals, with nine titles, three silver medals and two bronze medals, but it moved down in the second edition, when the Caribbean island finished in the 35th place.
