Cuban Economy Promotes Recycling
Monday, September 10, 2018

Havana.- Recycling has gained ground in the Cuban economy, favoring the recovery and commercialization of wastes and contributing a major source of income.

In this activity, aluminum cans, boxes, plastic knobs, bronze and copper pieces and glass containers, among other items, are processed.

According to specialists, the priority by Union de Empresas de Recuperacion de Materias Primas is to meet the demand from the national economy and to export the surplus.

The company reported monthly external sales of about 800 tons, which are worth three million dollars.

The main export markets for non-ferrous scrap (copper and bronze) are Canada and Europe (Italy and Spain), and in the case of plastics, Asia tops the list of markets.
