Experts Assess Use of Cuban Drug against Kidney Cancer
Monday, September 10, 2018

Havana.- The Oncology Hospital of Camagüey, in that eastern Cuban province, will host a phase II clinical trial on the use of Heberferon against stage III and IV kidney carcinoma.

In order to participate in the research, in addition to suffering from an advanced stage of the disease, patients must have undergone a nephrectomy or removal of the kidney due to the presence of a malignant tumor.

At present, a dozen patients benefit from the new therapy, and trials have been carried out in Holguin, Santiago de Cuba, Villa Clara and Havana.

The Heberferon is expected to prolong the survival of patients with advanced kidney carcinomas, even with metastases, and to favor their general state.

In addition, cases of reduced tumor size, as well as control of metastases, have been reported in evaluations performed for this type of cancer.
