Cuban Chess Player Is Out of National Shortlist Team |
|
|
Monday, September 17, 2018
Havana.- Grand Master Lazaro Bruzon, one of Cuba's best chess players, was left out of the national shortlist team in that discipline.
The National Chess Commission announced the decision after Bruzon traveled to the United States for personal reasons and decided to stay in that country.
He was instructed to process the application at the Giraldo Cordova Cardin High School of Training of High Performance Athletes, with which he had signed a contract and therefore he was part of its enrollment.
At the suggestion of his return to Cuba to receive medical treatment for a disease that he suffered, Bruzon said that he was already receiving treatment in the United States.
Subsequently, the commission learned that he had joined the team of the University of Webster for the 2018-2019 season, after which the termination of his membership in Cuba's national shortlist team was determined.
