Urban Agriculture in Ciego de Avila
Monday, September 24, 2018

Havana.- Urban agriculture is gaining ground in the eastern Cuban province of Ciego de Avila, where 14,000 hectares of land were added to that economic activity.

That area is located around towns and cities of the territory and is run by the state sector and independent producers.

Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture (AUSF) is responsible for serving these producers, who work in some 4,500 farms established several years ago.

From January to August, this productive modality contributed more than 30,000 tons of vegetables, 5,000 more than planned, and reported benefits for the domestic market.

The technique used throughout the year provides high-quality vegetables, including cucumbers, peppers, peppers, kidney beans and radishes.
