Cuba Administers New Vaccine against Hepatitis B
Monday, September 24, 2018

Havana.- The central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus began the administration of the hepatitis B vaccine in its fourth phase.

The new vaccine has benefited more than 200 patients and offers great probabilities to cure people suffering from the hepatitis B.

The medicine may eradicate the surface antigen that causes the infections that lead to chronic liver diseases.

HeberNasvac, produced by the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center (CIGB), is administered nasally and subcutaneously in its second cycle and causes fewer adverse effects than previous treatments.

This same therapy is used in six other Cuban provinces, with the purpose of reducing the replication of the virus that causes hepatitis B.
