Upward Fishing Production in CALISUR Company
Monday, October 8, 2018

Havana.- The company Camaronera del Litoral Sur (CALISUR), located in Cuba´s eastern, reached a productive record in 2018 when it reached the 2,150 tons of the crustacean.

Located in the province of Granma, CALISUR is achieving high levels of capture, artificial breeding and survival of the fry.

According to executives of the company there are conditions to close the current annual exercise with some 2,600 tons of shrimp, at a time when the thousand kilograms are priced at around 4,000 dollars.

So far, the export of 89 percent of the production was completed, while the remaining amount was delivered to the tourism sector.

The technological improvements implemented in the breeding process shorten the cultivation cycles and favors the average weight of the shrimp, which is 14.3 grams.

CALISUR has 957 hectares devoted to the cultivation of shrimp in a hundred water mirrors, which requires high levels of technological and labor discipline.
