Positive Balance for the Heberferon in Camagüey |

Havana.- The health system of the Cuban province of Camagüey highlighted the benefits achieved with the use of Heberferon, aimed at combating basal cell carcinoma of the skin.
According to specialists, about 120 patients fromthe territory agreed to the treatment with the aforementioned medicine, the only one of its kind in the world and developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
The drug is obtained from the combination of two interferons and currently efforts are concentrated in order to extend its use to primary health care.
The Heberferon is indicated primarily for advanced stages without another therapeutic option, as well as in the condition of complement of surgery, and in cases where this procedure is not feasible.
Also, the drug has potential to treat other tumors such as renal carcinoma, for which a phase II clinical trial is conducted in five provinces of the country.
