Beach Area in Main Cuban Resort Preserved
Monday, November 12, 2018

Havana.- The preservation of the beach area in Varadero, Cuba's major coastal resort, stands out among the priorities to guarantee the development of the tourism sector.

Actions include the periodic cleaning of the sand strip, together with the protection of the vegetation, which also contributes to prevent erosion.

In general, waste that takes years to degrade is removed, and invasive plants are eradicated.

In the case of the Royalton Hicacos Hotel, there is also an environmental classroom to train personnel, and a garbage basket has been placed every 45 meters, as established by international standards.

The hotel recently received the Environmental Star Award, which was granted for the first time by the delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in in the province of Matanzas.
