Assembly of New Fertilizer Factory Goes as Planned
Monday, November 19, 2018

Havana.- Brigades of skilled workers are assembling a modern fertilizer factory, which can produce some 300,000 tons a year, in the central province of Cienfuegos.

The workers from the Construction Company of Engineering Works 6 concluded the lifting of some 700 tons of metallic structures, among other actions.

The NPK fertilizer plant - nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium - is being built with support from India (AAR ESS EXIM Engineering Company) and will be the largest of its kind in Cuba.

The total investment is estimated at 29 million dollars, and includes a loan from India to finance equipment and technologies, technical advice and the training of Cuban specialists.

Using domestic zeolite as an additive, and imported chemicals, the plant is expected to produce 55 tons of fertilizer per hour for several crops, including vegetables, coffee, tobacco, cocoa, grains and pastures.
