Latin American Airlines Bet on Growth
Monday, November 19, 2018

Santiago, Chile.- Air transport in Latin America shows favorable results in 2018, with 14 new routes activated in the third quarter of the year.

According to the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Air Transport (ALTA), of those new itineraries, eight routes are international and six are domestic.

Moreover, the companies mobilized 21.5 million passengers in September, accounting for an increase of 7 percent compared to the previous year.

Domestic traffic increased in Colombia (12 percent), Argentina, Chile and Peru, with increases of more than 10 percent.

As a new element, LATAM is weighing the possibility of opening a route between Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Tel Aviv (Israel) to connect the region with North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East through local airlines.
