Maya Train Project to Promote Tourism in Mexico

Mexico.- The Mayan Train, a project to be executed in Mexico over a period of six years, with an investment of nearly 7.5 billion dollars, will favor the development of a large area of the country.

The initiative will generate benefits for five southeastern Mexican states that will have a new transportation option, together with a broad impact on tourism.

The railroad is estimated to run for 1,500 kilometers, from Palenque (Chiapas) to Cancun, passing through Bacalar, Tulum and Playa del Carmen, to continue to Valladolid, Merida to Xpujil.

This way, it would benefits the economies of Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Campeche and Tabasco.

In its design, at least three types of stations are considered, which will integrate systems of motor transport, motor vehicles, buses and rental vehicles, all of different sizes.
