Havana.- The writer Leonardo Padura, a recognized figure of the letters in Cuba, will join the ranks of the Cuban Academy of Language.
The formal incorporation will take place at a ceremony in the Palace of the Second Corporal, in Havana's Historic Heart, where the author will read his unpublished essay "For What a Novel Is Written".
It is worth mentioning that Padura holds the 2012 National Literature Prize and the 2015 Princess of Asturias Award to the Letters, and is an honorary member of the National Academies of the Spanish Language of Puerto Rico, Panama and Costa Rica.
Among his works stands out the novel La Transparencia del Tiempo (The Transparency of Time), published by Tusquets Editores S.A., and recently he received the Barcino Historic Novel International Prize in Spain.
Likewise, nations such as Spain, Mexico, Greece, the United States, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Switzerland have served as the stage for presentations and lectures by the Cuban writer.
