Havana.- The healthcare system in the Cuban province of Ciego de Avila guarantees high-quality and interdisciplinary health care to children suffering from cancer.
According to experts, the services benefit 100 children who suffer from the disease, in addition to promoting early detection tests at the primary care level.
The main locations of malignancy in pediatric ages are the lymphatic system, such as leukemia and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, tumors in the central nervous system, neuroblastoma and nephroblastoma.
Preventively, doctors work to modify lifestyles, administer medicines that prevent the progression of the disease and determine the genetic profile.
The evaluations are made by a multidisciplinary team designed according to requirements and made up of pediatric oncologists, family doctor and pediatricians from the health areas.
