Cuba Expands Use of Renewable Energy
Monday, January 7, 2019

Havana.- The eastern Cuban province of Ciego de Avila is putting the finishin touches on the start-up of the third photovoltaic park in the territory, with a view to benefiting from alternative energies.

The facility can increase solar power generation in the province to 11.6 megawatts.

In August 2017, the first generator of this type was installed in Ceballos and last March, another similar center was incorporated in the municipality of Chambas.

Over the past 16 months, the National Power System has received 14,190 megawatt hours from the two photovoltaic parks that already operate with all their parameters.

This figure represents a saving of 3,693 tons of fuel and 12,046 tons of carbon dioxide that did not polluted the environment.
