Increased Bee Honey Production in Ciego de Avila |

Havana.- The agricultural sector of Ciego de Avila completed the delivery of 268 tons of bee honey in 2018, the highest volume over the past five years.
Experts pointed out that this result was achieved despite the deficit of flowers due to the meteorological phenomena that affected the territory.
The strategy has been to move the beehives to areas where there are nectar sources, mainly on the keys north of Ciego de Avila, where black mangrove plantations abound.
In addition, the quality of the product is adequate for processing and benefit in the facilities located in the central province of Sancti Spiritus.
It is expected that during 2019, honey yields will average 45 kilograms per beehive, in order to guarantee shipments to Europe.
