Cuba to Allow Evaluation of Baseball Players
Monday, January 14, 2019

Havana.- Cuba will allow the evaluation of baseball players by experts from the Major Leagues of the United States.

This option responds to an agreement signed between that organization and the Cuban Baseball Federation in order to facilitate the presence of Cuban athletes in American teams.

In that regard, it was recalled that it is the Office of the Commissioner of the Major Leagues that regulates and orders the presence of the evaluators in Cuba.

The agreement must be renewed every three years and it establishes that players older than 25 years with six seasons of experience will be free to sign with any of the 30 US franchises.

In the coming weeks, a list of amateur players will be handed out for analysis and in the middle of the year, a list of players over 25 years old who are professionals and can be hired as free agents in any team will be made public.
