Increased Production of Bee Honey in Holguin |

Havana.- The eastern province of Holguin closed agricultural activities in 2018 with the production of 550 tons of bee honey, the largest output in 30 years.
This result responded, among other factors, to the maximum use of potential in the main flowering areas of the territory, where the beehives are concentrated.
In addition, the proper management of the beehives and their periodic transfer to areas with higher nectar content, including coasts and mangrove plantations, contributed to that result.
The Holguin apiculture company has some 8,000 beehives, whose production is exported, mainly to the European Union.
This food reaches prices close to 3,000 euros per ton, hence the importance of increasing production of bee honey and its byproducts.
