Cuban Cinema in a Favorable Environment
Monday, January 21, 2019

Havana.- Cuban cinema closed 2018 with a favorable panorama, supported by the premiere of several feature films from the country.

The list of movies included ¿Por Qué Lloran Mis Amigas? (Why Do My Friends Cry?), starring the Cuban actresses Luisa Maria Jiménez, Edith Massola, Amarilys Nuñez and Yasmin Gomez.

Another film was Ernesto Daranas' Sergio and Sergei, which is exponent of friendship, solidarity and humanism, above any political beliefs or material needs.

In addition, three Cuban motion pictures submitted to the 40th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema received the Special Jury's Prize of the contest.

They were Insumisas, by Fernando Pérez and the Swiss filmmaker Laura Cazador; Inocencia by Alejandro Gil, and Nido de Mantis, by Arturo Soto.
