OPEC Funds for Development in Cuba
Monday, February 11, 2019

Havana.- The OPEC Fund for International Development agreed with Cuba on a loan for 25 million dollars, which will finance a sanitation and water project in Las Tunas.

The resources will facilitate the improvement of the sewage and drainage systems of the capital of the territory, in addition to increasing water supply.

The agreement is the continuity of a deal signed in 2018 and amounting to 17 million dollars to purchase raw materials and equipment, along with actions such as the replacement of pipes in poor condition.

The specialists recalled that similar projects are also carried out in Trinidad, Bayamo, Guantanamo and Palma Soriano, all with contributions from the OPEC Fund.

These agreements have benefited sectors such as agriculture, the rehabilitation of electricity networks, aqueduct and sewerage systems and renewable energies.
