ECOTUR Agency Boosts Nature Tourism
Monday, February 18, 2019

Havana.- The Cuban travel agency ECOTUR, founded over two decades ago, stands out for its contribution to the development of nature tourism in the Caribbean island.

The firm has headquarters in Havana and a branch in the West, to serve the territories of Isla de la Juventud, Havana, Mayabeque, Artemisa and Pinar del Rio.

Another subsidiary is Varadero-Centro, which includes the main Cuban coastal resort, Matanzas, Cienaga de Zapata, Trinidad, Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus.

In 2018, ECOTUR served 200,000 travelers and it is expected to handle 250,000 travelers in 2019, with revenues of around 19 million dollars a year.

Nature tourism is based on the country's potential, with several national parks, reserves, Ramsar sites and a national system of protected areas.
