Havana.- Cuban badminton already has won six slots for the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, this summer of 2019.
Cuban sports officials pointed out that this number of qualified players (three men and three women) responds to the country's fifth position in the continental ranking.
According to the Pan-American Badminton Confederation, Canada, the United States, Brazil and Peru are the nations that reached the maximum quota (four men and four women).
On the other hand, Guatemala, Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic have six, while Barbados, Jamaica, Chile and Suriname reached four.
Costa Rica, Argentina, El Salvador, Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana also have the opportunity to participate in the competition with two players each (a man and a woman).
Four years ago at the Toronto games, Cuba competed with seven players and won a bronze medal that went to Osleni Guerrero in the singles.
