Port Facilities in Western Cuba
Monday, March 11, 2019

Havana.- Western Cuba has a key element in the Mariel Container Terminal for commercial activity in the country, as well as facilitating operations in the region.

The Container Terminal of Mariel, the first user of the Special Development Zone in western Cuba, is expected to become a center for the distribution of goods.

The facility is designed to operate NeoPanamax vessels and it has 702 linear meters of docks and a depth of 17.9 meters in its entire berth.

The plans aim to widen and deepen the access channel, as part of a project in charge of Cuban dredging companies, which will facilitate the access of larger ships.

In addition, 1,700 meters of docks and 95 hectares of yard must be completed to reach an annual operational capacity of more than three million containers.
