Cuban Paralympic Athletes to Compete in Brazil
Monday, March 18, 2019

Havana.- Cuba's main Paralympic athletes and swimmers will compete in the Caixa Loterias rally in Brazil.

The event, to be held in Sao Paulo, will be attended by the Cuban Paralympic champions Omara Durand, Luis Felipe Gutierrez, Leinier Savon and Lorenzo Perez.

Durand has won several Paralympic gold medals, while Gutierrez was the gold medalist in London-2012 in the F13 category, and Savon won 100- and 200-meter races in the T12 category in Rio de Janeiro-2016.

In para-swimming, Lorenzo Perez, who won the title in Rio de Janeiro and set a world record in the 100-meter free S6 contest, leads the group under the command of Ernesto Garrido.

Cuba aims to bring about 55 athletes to the Para-Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, for which 34 Cuban competitors have qualified.
