Cuba to Compete with Full Boxing Team in Lima-2019

Havana.- Cuba will compete in the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, with a full team of 10 boxers.

The Cuban boxers guaranteed their tickets to the continental games at the qualifying tournament held in Managua, where they won five titles.

Cuba will take Damian Arce (49 kilograms), Yosbany Veitia (52), Osbel Caballero (56), Lazaro Alvarez (60), Andy Cruz (64) and Roniel Iglesias (69) to the games.

The other team members are Arlen Lopez (75 kilograms), Julio Cesar La Cruz (81), Erislandy Savon (91) and Dainier Pero, who is barely 19 years old.

In the finals, the Cuban boxers Lazaro Alvarez lost to Leonel de los Santos (Dominican Republic), and the Olympic and world champion Arlen Lopez lost to Islay Troy, from the United States.

Meanwhile, the world and Olympic gold medalist Roniel Iglesias was injured in his left hand and finished with a bronze medal.
