Havana.- The Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) reported on the United States Government's decision to annul the implementation of the agreement with the Major Leagues of Baseball (MLB).
The Cuban sports body revealed the pressures to make this mechanism, identified as a formula to eliminate harmful practices such as human trafficking, ineffective.
The Federation ratifies its commitment to the Agreement and reiterates that it considers it an essential instrument to preserve the integrity of its athletes.
Among the most recent steps, Cuba mentioned the release of 34 amateur players with a view to their hiring by professional teams.
Under the agreement, players could receive 100 percent of a bonus to sign, while MLB clubs would pay an additional 25 percent to the federation as a release fee.
