Cuba Prioritizes Recycling Industry
Monday, April 15, 2019

Havana.- The recycling industry is a priority in the Cuban economy, with a view to exploiting the potential of urban solid waste.

According to the Recycling Business Group, 16 products, classified as ferrous, non-ferrous and non-metallic, are currently being recycled in the country.

Ferrous waste includes steel and cast iron, whose main destination is the steel companies to produce rods and corrugated bars.

Among the non-ferrous metals are aluminum, copper, bronze, electronic scrap and stainless steel, which are recovered, and the bulk of that recycled material is used in the country.

There are more than 300 offices that buy these products in all Cuban municipalities, thus allowing recovering more than 50 percent of the total recyclable materials obtained by the company.
