New Technologies for Agriculture in Cuba
Monday, April 15, 2019

Havana.- The agricultural activity in Cuba, a key element in food production, has received the favorable impact of the introduction of new technologies.

Over the past three years, some 4,000 tractors of different origin have arrived in the country, with powers ranging from 25 horsepower (HP) to between 180 and 220 HP.

In terms of land, 82,860 hectares of agricultural land should be benefited, including more than 20,000 hectares in hydrographic basins of national interest and 13,690 hectares in areas of the Turquino Plan.

Plans also include the production and use of nearly 10,000 tons of technical minerals, in addition to benefiting nearly 3,000 hectares of acid soils.

Together with this, authorities are promoting the production of 97,475 tons of earthworm humus, 514,000 tons of compost and about 28,400 cubic meters of substrate.
