Havana.- Healthcare services of the eastern Cuban province of Guantanamo have new computerized digital mammography equipment, used for the diagnosis of breast cancer.
The equipment was installed in the Doctor Agosthino Neto General Teaching Hospital and provides high-quality images with less exposure to radiation.
According to experts, the characteristics of the equipment allow detecting small lesions, thus increasing the possibility of discovering this type of neoplasm at an early stage.
The electronic manipulation of the image eliminates the use of radiographic films and the development process, thus reducing costs in the acquisition of chemical elements.
In addition, the result of the study is delivered to the patient in a digital format, or it is transferred by means of a mobile device such as a telephone or a tablet.
