Tourism Increases Hard-Currency Revenues in Mexico

Mexico.- The tourism industry has increased its contribution to the Mexican economy after reaching 4.508 billion dollars in the first two months of the year.

This figure represents an increase of 16.7 percent, with 6.8 million international tourists arriving at the country during the said period.

In January and February, tourism reported positive results with revenues of 2.911 billion dollars, which account for 37.9 percent more than in 2018.

In the cruise modality, 1.7 million visitors were reported, for an interannual growth of 7.7 percent and an average expenditure of 68.3 dollars per capita.

Authorities expect 43.3 million international holidaymakers to visit the country this year to keep Mexico in the elite of tourism worldwide.
