Monday, April 22, 2019

Havana.- The Havana Film Festival, based in New York, has accumulated two decades of activity with a large exhibition of Cuban motion pictures.

In this edition of the event, 16 films from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Peru, the United States, Mexico and Chile, were submitted for competition.

Cuba was represented by Nido de Mantis (Arturo Sotto), Inocencia (Alejandro Gil), El Viaje Extraordinario de Celeste Garcia (Arturo Infante), and El Regreso (Blanca Rosa Blanco and Alberto Luberta).

Gil was the winner of the Best Director Award at the Havana Film Festival with a film about the death sentence given to eight medical students in 1870.

The Havana Star Prize for Best Film went to the Peruvian moviemaker Alvaro Delgado for his film Retablo, while El Viaje Extraordinario de Celeste Garcia won a special mention from the jury.
