New Equipment for Railroad Transportation in Cuba
Monday, May 13, 2019

Havana.- The Union of Railways of Cuba is carrying out actions to improve the equipment used in the mobilization of passengers in the country.

According to the company, 80 passenger railroad transport cars are expected to arrive in the country to strengthen the long distance service.

Currently, train trips only take place every four days to the provincial capitals of Granma and Santiago de Cuba, and every three days to Santiago de Cuba, with a limited capacity from 400 to 500 passengers per trip.

After the new cars start up operations, they will move up to 720 passengers at a time and the time between trips will be reduced.

The passenger cars that will be replaced will go to the workshops to be put in full operation, and then they will be used in provincial and territorial transportation.
