Maya Train Project in Mexico Adjusted
Monday, June 24, 2019

Mexico.- The Maya Train project, aimed at strengthening the southeast of the country, was adjusted to reduce its layout by 55 kilometers and the cost by 260 million dollars.

Initially, the laying of more than 1,500 kilometers of railroads through the states of Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo was considered, with an investment of 7.389 billion dollars.

The participation of public and private funds is considered in the government's strategy.

Together with this, Fonatur, the Ministry of Culture and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) signed collaboration agreements in relation to the Mayan Train.

These agreements include studies of previous prospection of the subsoil in order to locate archaeological sites in the area.
