Havana.- Cuban fencers gave an outstanding performance in the Pan-American Championship of that sport, held in the Canadian city of Toronto.
The Cuban representatives won the title thanks to the work by the men's sword team, which scored 45 touches against 38 in the final against the United States.
The Cuban team also defeated Mexico (45-36), Venezuela (45-34) and Argentina (45-39) in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Yunior Reytor was third in the single modality against Jose Felix Rodriguez, from Argentina, while the final was won by the Venezuelan brothers Ruben and Jesus Limardo by 15-14 in favor of the former.
The contest contribute to the Cuban fencers' training prior to the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, in addition to showing the conditions of the Cubans to compete for medals.
