Cuban Flower Production Complements Tourism
Monday, July 8, 2019

Havana.- The national production of flowers contributes to meet the demand from the tourism sector and prevents large disbursements by concept of imports.

In the case of Varadero, the Placido estate provides tropical species known as alpinia, which is widely used in flower arrangements.

The producers market that variety through the Palco Business Group, specifically with the Florist Ave del Paraiso, in Varadero.

Before, customers paid approximately one dollar for each imported flower, and now the cost is only 30 cents in freely convertible currency.

Every week, 200-300 spikes of alpinia are ordered, in addition to vegetables and fruits, from tourism sector.
