Air Transportation between Europe and Latin America Grows

Panama.- Air passenger transportation between Latin America and Europe has grown 20 percent from January to May 2019.

According to industry sources, companies in Latin America and the Caribbean transported 6.1 million international passengers in May, 3.5 million of whom were carried within the region and 2.6 million outside.

The Latin American and Caribbean Association of Air Transport highlighted that in May, displacements were encouraged by an increase of 21.6 percent in the traffic to Europe.

As an example, LATAM Airlines operated 188 additional flights between the region and Europe, including 57 of them between Sao Paulo and Lisbon (Portugal).

In addition, LATAN increased the number of flights to and from Italy by adding 46 additional flights, while Aeromexico added 78 additional flights between Mexico and Europe.
