Whale and Dolphin Festival in Costa Rica
Monday, August 12, 2019

Havana.- Costa Rica celebrates in September the so-called Whale and Dolphin Festival, designed so that visitors can appreciate these species in all their splendor.

Each year, the date marks the beginning of humpback whales at the Ballena Marine National Park, where these marine mammals arrive in search of warm waters ideal for reproduction.

The aforementioned site is the first park created in Costa Rica with the objective of protecting both the marine and terrestrial ecosystem and is considered a sanctuary for humpback whales.

You can also see cetaceans such as fake killer whales, different species of dolphins (spotted, spinner or bottle nose) and a wide variety of sea turtle species.

Humpback whales can measure up to 18 meters long and their presence makes it easier for those interested to hear even their song and appreciate that species with their young.
