Cuban Chemical Plant Starts Up Operations
Monday, September 9, 2019

Havana.- The Sagua la Grande chemical plant, in central Cuba, began production of derivatives such as liquid chlorine, caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid and hydrogen.

The facility, equipped with the most modern technology in the world, will be the only one in Cuba that produces the aforementioned chemical derivatives.

Works in the factory included the assembly of 1,253 metal structures, for which 11,000 cubic meters of concrete and some 20,000 meters of pipes were used.

Drainage networks and capacities to store future productions were also built, in addition to the roofs, among other actions.

At full capacity, the industry will deliver some 21 tons of liquid chlorine, 80 of caustic soda, equal amounts of sodium hypochlorite, 45 of hydrochloric acid and hydrogen every day.
