Cuban Chess Player to Compete in World Youth Competition

Havana.- The World Youth Chess Championships, to be held in the Indian city of New Delhi, will be attended by two representatives from Cuba.

Carlos Daniel Albornoz and Roxangel Obregon, who are among the world's top 94 men and 95 women, will represent the Caribbean island.

Albornoz, Cuba's absolute champion and with en Elo score of 2,581 points, will be the fifth pre-qualified player among the men, while Obregon is in the 22nd place.

The games will last 90 minutes for the first 40 plays and then 30 minutes until the end of the event, always with 30 seconds of increase from the initial move.

It is worth mentioning that Cuba's history has two champions in these championships: Walter Arencibia in 1986 and Lazaro Bruzon in 2000.
