Cuban Judokas Excel in Grand Slam in Brasilia

Havana.- Cuba finished fourth by countries in the Judo Grand Slam held in Brasilia, with a medal of each color.

The gold medalist was Kaliema Antomarchi, in the 78 kilograms, who won four fights, three by Ippon and one by Wazari, the latter in the final against Nicole Powel, from the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Ivan Silva (90 kilograms) won the silver medal with three wins by Ippon and a defeat by Wazari in the final against Nikoloz Sherazadishvili (Spain), world champion in 2018.

For her part, Maylin del Toro (63 kilograms) was the bronze medalist with three wins and a defeat.

Orlando Polanco (66 kilograms), Osniel Solis (66 kg), Magdiel Estrada (73 kg), Arnaes Odelin (57 kg) and Onix Cortes (70 kg) failed to win medals.

Brazil led the medal table with four titles, nine silver medals and four third places, followed by Japan (2-0-2), the United Kingdom (1-1-2), Cuba (1-1-1) and Italy (1 -1-0).
