Havana.- Idelfonso Acosta and Joaquin Betancourt were recognized with the 2019 National Music Award, as a tribute to their work in favor of culture.
The jury, chaired by Digna Guerra, evaluated several candidates and chose the winners, due to their impact on the country and their multifaceted work.
The jurors also recognized the work of Cuban musicians such as Adalberto Alvarez, Guido Lopez Gavilan, Pancho Amat and Beatriz Marquez.
Acosta, who is guitarist, concert player, professor and composer, has made many contributions to the teaching of that instrument and has produced a prolific work.
Betancourt stands out for his great work bringing popular dance music to a symphonic format, with an important legacy for the new generations.
