Increased Tourist Arrivals to Spanish Destinations

Madrid.- Spain received a total of 67 million international holidaymakers in the first nine months of 2019.

Statistics show an interannual growth of 1.3 percent.

The United Kingdom was Spain's major tourist-sending market in the period with 14.8 million vacationers, followed by France with more than 9.1 million and Germany with nine million.

During the first nine months of 2019, the autonomous communities that received largest number of tourists were Catalonia, with more than 15.6 million, followed by the Balearic Islands with 12.1 million tourists and Andalusia with more than 9.7 million.

Expenditures by tourists totaled 78.83 billion euros, accounting to a growth of 3 percent compared to the same period in 2018.
