Megamerger in Commercial Aviation Sector
Monday, November 11, 2019

London.- The IAG consortium will acquire all shares of Air Europa, in an operation close to one billion euros.

The group, made up of British Airways, Iberia, Level, Vueling and Aer Lingus, pointed out that with this acquisition, its operations center in Madrid will be strengthened.

In addition, it will compete strongly against the four largest airports in Europe, including Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London (Heathrow) and Paris (Charles De Gaulle).

Air Europa is one of the leading private airlines in Spain, with regular national and international flights to 69 destinations, including European and long-distance routes to Latin America, the United States, the Caribbean and North Africa.

Last year alone, the airline billed 2.1 billion euros, reported profits of 100 million euros and transported 11.8 million passengers with a fleet of 66 planes.
