Moderate Growth of Cuban Economy Predicted
Monday, November 18, 2019

Havana.- International organizations assured that the Cuban economy has registered a moderate growth this year, taking into account the revised predictions.

According to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), based in Santiago, Chile, growth in 2019 is estimated at around 0.5 percent.

The announcement confirms what was disclosed months ago by that United Nations agency, when it predicted the same growth of Cuba's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

In recent years, Cuba's GDP has remained in positive numbers, since it grew 2.7 percent 2013, from 1.0 percent in 2014, 4.4 in 2015, 0.5 in 2016, 1.6 in 2017, and 1.2 in 2018.

For the region, the ECLAC considers an average expansion of 0.1 percent, taking into account that the slowdown in the growth rate affects 17 of 20 Latin American countries.
