The Cape of San Antonio, the western end of the greater one of the Antilles, stands in a zone that is peculiar to sentinel where it emphasizes the tremendous potential for the practice of nautical activities. The Navy Cabo de San Antonio, located on the site of the same name, figure as one of the options offered by the recent leisure industry in the area, as part of the strategy of going beyond the traditional sun and beach offers. ,

The center located in Las Tumbas provides mooring services, fuel supply, drinking water, electric power, custodians for the security and protection of the boats and provisioning. Also, are located other activities necessary for those who prefer the sea to travel, like international communications, services for immigration, customs and harbor captain, to which is added a snack bar. ,

The Navy also allows the diving equipment rental, specialized boats for the diving, instructors devoted to the practice of this activity, coupled with excursions and the always attractive fishing. As special details, has the Villa Cabo de San Antonio for the accommodation of visitors in 16 comfortable bungalows and optionally some tours through ecological trails, with a wide range of endemic flora and fauna, caves, cracks, casimbas, lagoons and cenotes. ,

Very close by are the reefs where stands the Roncali Lighthouse, built in the second half of the XIX century by a captain of the same name, it marks the most western point of the island, in an area which is considered to be the last refuge of the aboriginal people in the time of the spanish colonization. Its archaeological exploration contributes elements that allow to understand clearly the effort of the constructors who worked in the realization of the tower, given the difficult topography of the terrain. ,

It also highlights the role of the guide to hundreds of boats each year in their transit through the dangerous waters of the western extreme of Cuba. Obligatory reference point, the light that is emitted can be appreciated some 30 kilometers away, with a frequency of two flashes every 10 seconds, thanks to a unique conical tower of masonry of a height of 75 feet (22.5 meters). ,

From the cliffs next to the Lighthouse Roncali appreciated landscapes of unique beauty, backed by the plant biodiversity only in the peninsula of Guanacahabibes, declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1987. ,

There is also in the irregular funds a high population of black coral, about 40 species of stony corals, mixed with crustaceans such as lobster and crab Moro, in addition of mollusks of the type of the caracol queen and the cigua. The activity of privateers and pirates, joined the danger of previous eras of surf-infested waters reefs, contributed to the funds of the place the most varied wrecks, some caused by nature and others arrived by force from the hand of man.
